When I was sixteen, I wrote eight measures of music after goofing off on the piano… then forgot about it. Fast forward to my first composition class, and we are asked to bring in a motif to create a piece off of. Later that day, I found those measures of music, which then developed into “Rivers of Glass.” The vibraphone was almost an obvious choice for the motif for the instrument’s elegant sound. This is a piece I still hold close to my heart and would be an excellent challenge for any percussionist.
